Invitation to Bid
The Park District of Oak Park will accept separate sealed bids for two separate contracts: (1) the 2011 MILLS PARK FENCE RESTORATION PROJECT (the "Fence Contract") and (2) the 2011 MILLS PARK MASONRY & CONCRETE RESTORATION PROJECT (the "Masonry & Con- crete Contract") at 217 South Home Avenue in Oak Park, IL. Contractors wishing to do the fence restoration work will submit a bid only for the Fence Contract. Contractors wish- ing to do the masonry and concrete restoration work will submit a bid only for the Masonry & Concrete Contract. All bidders for either contract are required to submit a Pre-Qualification Form provided in the bid packet for that contract by the specified due date and time of Monday, December 20th, 2010 before 5:00pm, which will be prior to the due date for the bids them- selves. Any bid submitted by a Bidder that has not submitted the re- quired Pre-Qualification Form by its due date will be automatically disqualified. The project includes full restoration of ornamental fencing and masonry and concrete repair work for lime- stone walls and pillars on property listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Pre-Qualifica- tion Form for each contract requires proof of significant previous work on historic properties of character and scope similar to the work being bid. A mandatory pre-bid conference for both contracts will take place on Thursday, December 16th, 2010 at 1pm CST at the Pleasant Home, 217 South Home Avenue, Oak Park, IL. Attendance by qualified bidders is encouraged to obtain a full under- standing of the scope of work. The Project Manual and bidding documents for the Fence Contract and for the Concrete Contract may be obtained from the Park District of Oak Park, John L. Hedges Adminis- trative Center, 218 Madison Street, Oak Park, IL on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. starting on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, for a non-refundable $25 fee. Checks to pay this fee must be written out to the Park District of Oak Park. Bid bonds will be required. Performance and materials and labor bonds will be required. Both of the two selected contractors (one for each contract) will be required to obtain all necessary permits from the Village of Oak Park prior to mobil- ization. Payment of prevailing wage rates will be required. Each bid must be placed in a sealed envelope marked either "2011 Mills Park Fence Contract" or "2011 Mills Park Masonry & Concrete Contract" and must be delivered by or before 10am CST on Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 to Neil Adams, Project Manager, Park District of Oak Park, John L. Hedges Administration Cen- ter, 218 Madison Street, Oak Park, IL 60302. Immediately thereafter, bids from pre-qualified Bidders for each contract will be opened and read. The Park District of Oak Park encourages qualified minority- owned and woman-owned business enterprises to compete for and participate in the Park District's supply requirements.
